The Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO) is an entrepreneurial training and development program that originated in the Harlem district of New York City in 1966. The program was introduced to Bridgeport, Connecticut, by FSW, Inc., one of the leading family service agencies in the state, in the fall of 1999. WIBO aims to assist men and women from underserved communities to become successful entrepreneurs by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to start, operate, and grow profitable businesses.

16-Week Entrepreneurial Training Course:

The course is designed to cover essential aspects of starting and running a successful business.

Topics include market research, customer development, sales, advertising, break-even analysis, purchasing, personnel management, financing, recordkeeping, business law, and business plan development.

Classes are held weekly for three hours each session.

Comprehensive Curriculum:

Participants receive a detailed operational plan for their business by the end of the course.

Graduates earn a WIBO certificate of completion.

The curriculum is designed to provide practical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Brian has utilized his expertise in business development to assist startups and businesses, showcasing his entrepreneurial skills. He has established various ventures under Harvest de Grace Enterprises LLC, such as Pro-Logic Multimedia, Rollin Brother Car Service and Rentals, and Reliable Logistic Services LLC. Furthermore, Brian played a crucial role in the growth of a childcare center that initially catered to seven children from a home setting but later expanded to accommodate up to 21 children. Due to its success, the center further expanded into a larger facility with a capacity for 60 children. Additionally, Brian led the creation of a soul food restaurant in Bridgeport, CT, overseeing the development of a comprehensive business plan, financials, marketing strategies, logos, store signs, and menus. He also contributed to securing grants for a client aiming to purchase a childcare facility capable of accommodating 36 children. 

Brian is also responsible for creating and mananging FCPA current website. 

Brian serves as the official primary owner of the Fairfield County Protection Agency (FCPA), a role that is largely symbolic and intended to assist the agency in obtaining financing. Through his personal guarantee, Brian has effectively obtained $21,000 to support the agency’s payroll cashflow.

Brian’s current goal is to establish a strong business credit profile to secure a line of credit, loans, and grants amounting to $150,000 for FCPA. This funding will be utilized to enhance the agency’s operations by hiring new staff, covering office expenses, acquiring equipment, conducting maintenance, and expanding the patrol fleet.

I am responsible for managing the agency’s finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing cash flow, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.

Bookkeeping

I maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This involves ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and reported.

Controller

I oversee the agency’s financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
